I have to disagree with one thing you said. If you come into a country illegally you are a criminal. That’s what illegal means. My relatives took years to legally come to the USA . My mother and grandmother had to wait eight years to get here. My grandfather got here sooner because he was an outspoken critic of Mussolini and was on an arrest list with a dead penalty. They had to have sponsors that had to say they wouldn’t be a drain on government money. They were checked for diseases, they couldn’t have a criminal background and had to have an ability to make a living.
That is the proper way to become an American. I have no problem with refugees coming to the USA but do it legally. Ken Cuneo.
We DON’T disagree. I’m NOT condoning illegal immigration. As I said, the law is the law, and no one is above it, not even former presidents. But the reality is illegals live among us and have for decades. We probably attend church with them. They spend money in our shops. They holds jobs that those of us of more privilege wouldn’t take. They are not habitual criminals, drug dealers, and rapists. I object to the insensitive language being used to vilify each and every one of them. It’s not the way to address the issue. Fear-mongering will only lead to more division and, worse, violence. Remember Charlotte?

Forgot to thank you for your comment. It’s good to have a civil discussion of these matters.

I agree with you. There are so many Hispanic people that are hard working Americans. Look how many we have in our community.
Hope you and MJ are having a great vacation.
See you when you get home.
